Mindy's head shot
In a little over a month, I'm heading to Orlando for a revision intensive. Today, I received a nice introduction note from the instructors--Julie Strauss-Gabel, Associate Publisher of Dutton Children’s Books, and author Suzanne Supplee. I can't wait to attend the intensive--it sounds amazing!

If you're looking for a good excuse to take a Disney vacation, think about coming to the Orlando Workshop. Co-Regional Advisors Linda R. Bernfeld and Gaby Triana have lined up an incredible faculty! The revision intensive is full, but I believe everything else is still open. The illustrator's intensive is on June 19, and will be led by author/illustrators Jarrett Krosoczka and Janeen Mason.

Here are the workshop tracks for June 20, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

Picture Book Track
Author/Illustrator Janeen Mason
Author Alison Jackson
Editor Jennifer Rees, Scholastic

Middle Grade Track
Executive Director, SCBWI and Co-Author Lin Oliver
Editor-in Chief Bonnie Bader, Grosset & Dunlap/PSS; Penguin Young Readers Group

Young Adult
Editor Martha Mihalick, Greenwillow Books
Author Dorian Cirrone

Science Fiction/Fantasy Track
Author Bruce Coville
Agent Michael Stearns, Firebrand Literary

Graphic Novel
Agent Mark McVeigh, The McVeigh Agency
Author/Illustrator Jarrett Krosoczka

You can find more details here: http://scbwiflorida.com/jun09.html

I hope to see you in Orlando!

We are at Disney World during this time! So, I'm trying to figure this out. If you sign up, you choose to either go to the conference, or you can go to the intensive and edit a complete manuscript?

The revision intensive starts on June 19th and will take the place of the tracks on the 20th. It is full, but you can contact our RA, Linda Bernfeld, to be placed on a waiting list.

All the tracks are open, if you're interested in joining us on Saturday. Let me know if you're able to attend. I'd love to see you. :)

Dang, I'm sad it's full! I'm gonna think about going on Saturday. The intensive is what really interested me. You are going to have a great time!!

I wish you could come to the intensive, too. I think it sold out in less than a week. Maybe your RA can have Julie Strauss-Gabel do a two day revision workshop in your area.

I hope you'll be able to come to the workshop--I'd love to see you. A few years ago I took a great YA track with Dorian Cirrone. Bruce Coville is an amazing speaker, and I'm sure the other tracks will be wonderful, too.

On January, we're having a one day writing intensive lead by Alex Flinn and Richard Peck, if you feel like coming to Miami. :)

Mindy, this sounds amazing! Wish I could beam 3000 miles cross country for a two day intensive on my Nanowrimo wip.

Hope everything goes great!

Thanks, Kai. I wish you could come to the intensive, too. How is everything going with your NaNo WIP?

Nano WIP revisions are coming along slowly. I'm editing two novels at once and I'm not very good at staying focused on either. I'm much further along in the rev process of SAVE THE LEMMINGS! but it still manages to pull me off Super Villian Academy (Nano WIP) and vice versa. Oh, it is all excuses for just not being disciplined enough! :)

Have fun.

Wish I could join you... it sounds fantastic! Which novel did you submit to the intensive, Bra Girl or The Wall? I hope Julie falls in love with your writing

Thanks, Sharon. I wish you could come, too. I'd love to meet up with you at a conference!

I was planning on sending The Wall, but received a nice rejection for Bra Girl saying that I have talent, a nice voice, and a quirkiness that she likes, and that my manuscript is charming, fresh, and publishable. It's such a tough market--this is a great opportunity to make sure it dazzles even more than it already does.

I can't wait for the intensive!

Hi, Mindy!
Thanks for the confirmation. It's great to see you involved with the organization at a leadership level. See you in June!
